Commercial experience until 1899. President, director of New York & Honduras Rosario Mining Company Active in Republican party. Made speech nominating Theodore Roosevelt for President at Progressive National Convention, Chicago, 1912.

Issued call in New York State for formation of Progressive party. Elected register of Kings County, November 1907. Comptroller City of New York, 1910-1917.

Chairman Public Service Commission, New York, 1921-1930. An active supporter of Governor Hughes in behalf of his administrative and political reform measures. Director Montana, Wyoming & Southern Railroad Company.
