Munroe, William Adams was born on November 9, 1843 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. Son of William Watson and Hannah (Foster) Munroe.
Graduate Cambridge High School, 1860, Harvard College, Bachelor of Arts, 1864, A.M., 1867. Harvard Law School.
Admitted to bar, August 1868. Began practice, September 1869. Partner with George O. Shattuck (Shattuck & Munroe), 1870-1897, until Mr.
Shattuck’s death; firm was Shattuck, Holmes & Munroe, 1872-1882, Oliver Wendell Holmes (now of Supreme Court of the United States bench) being partner until appointed judge Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, 1882. Was commissioner to revise Cambridge city charter, and for 13 years on Cambridge School Committee President Perry.
