Entered 14th Regiment, 1863. Served through Maori war. Left army in 1872; after interim of diamond digging in South Africa, and sheep farming in Tasmania, was acting Consul at Samoa and Deputy Commissioner for the Western Pacific, 1882-1885.

Removed to Ibraila, 1890. Porto Rico, United States of America, since 1899.
