Came to the United States, 1907, naturalized through father becoming citizen, 1912. Admitted to New York bar, 1929, and practiced in New York City. Law clerk, 1926-1930.

Partner Keith, Wilson & Barry, 1930-1932. Assistant district attorney Queens County, New York, 1932-1933. Special United State Attorneys for Department of Justice, 1933-1935.

Elected to 74th Congress, November 5, 1935, 2d New York District, to fill vacancy caused by resignation of W. F. Brunner, reelected 75th to 78th Congresses (1937-1945), 2d New York District.
