Elected to 66th Congress for an unexpired term (1920-1921), and 67th to 70th Congresses (1921-1929), 5th Alabama District. Resigned to accept appointment as judge 5th Judicial Circuit, Alabama, reëlected judge, 1934 and 1940 Chairman Board of Education, Dadeville, Alabama, 12 years. 1st vice-president and president, 1941-1943, Alabama Baptist State Convention.
