Graduate Royal Technology College, Charlottenburg, Berlin, 1891. Served apprenticeship as marine engineer, with J. & G. Thompson, Clyde Bank, Scotland, also with North German Lloyd repair plant, Bremerhaven, Germany.

Career

Foreign representative and assistant general superintendent William Cramp & Sons Shipbuilding Company, Philadelphia, 1898-1904. Delivered to Russia, from Cramps, the battleship Retvizan and the cruiser Variag. To Japan, the cruiser Kasagi.

President Harlan & Hollingsworth Corporation, Wilmington, Delaware, 13½ years. President Reading Paper Mills Company. General manager for Pusey & Jones Company of the Wilmington and Gloucester, New Jersey, plants.
