Enlisted in 11th Alabama Infantry, July, 1861. Served in Virginia as Second lieutenant, captain of sharpshooters and brigade adjunct-general, on staff of General J. C. Saunders. Participated in the principal battles and in recapture of the “Crater” at Petersburg.
Remained in field until Lee’s surrender. Admitted to Alabama bar, 1868. Practiced in Stanislaus Company, California, 2 years, Greensboro, Alabama, 1870-1880.
Prosecuting attorney, Hale Company, Alabama, 1871-1873. Settled in Jacksonville, Florida, 1880. Judge Circuit Court, 4th Florida Circuit, 1890-1893.
Retired from active practice, 1912.
