Became assistant superintendent Pennsylvania Steel Works, Harrisburg. Studied law; admitted to Philadelphia bar, March 1873. Exclusively engaged in patent law practice, since 1875.
Counsel for United States in Bell Telephone case. General counsel for many industrial companies, including leading interests relating to ship and engine building, car constrn and steel and iron manufacturer.
