Appointed coast defense and anti-aircraft commander Panama Canal department, August 1941. Deputy commander Panama Canal Department, appointed commanding general Antilles department, December, 1943.

Appointed commanding general Ninth Service Command, September 1, 1944.

Served on staff, chief of artillery, rank of colonel, with American Expeditionary Forces, France, 1917-1919.
