NH Society of Genealogists Special Pub No. 6. 411 pp. 7,710 entry Every Name Index. 1995. During the forty year period 1790-1829 Dover's first newspaper published some 2,000 issues, which contain the births, marriages, and deaths of more than 7,500 people. Originally called the Political and Sentimental Repository but sporting many other names in later years, the paper served an area much wider than simply the Dover vicinity; hence within its pages will be found vital records from all over New England. The generations immediately after the Revolutionary War are difficult ones for genealogical research, in New Hampshire as well as elsewhere - here you have four of the most difficult decades in exquisite detail. Mr. Wentworth located every copy of the newspaper still extant, over 1,600 of the two thousand issues which were published, and has abstracted all of them with meticulous care.
