Ordained Presbyterian ministry, 1889. Pastor Mingo Junction, O., 1889-1892, Toronto, O., 1893-1898, Cambridge, O., 1899-1902, Ashtabula, O., 1903-1912. College pastor, College of Wooster, 1912-1916.

General director Department of Men's Work and district secretary of Board of Christian Education, Presbyterian Church in United States of America, 1916-1931.

Later became head Department of Church Administration, Presbyterian College of Christian Education, Chicago. Retired, 1942, becoming pastor emeritus Deerfield Presbyterian Church, April 1942.
