Bentley, William Frederick was born on September 12, 1859 in Lenox, Ohio, United States. Son of Cyrus Augustus and Harriett (Prentice) Bentley.

Education

Geneva (O.) Normal School. Graduate Oberlin Conservatory of Music, 1883, Bachelor of Music, 1906. Königliches Conservatorium der Musik, Leipzig, 1887-1888.

Kullak School of Music, Berlin, 1888-1889. Studied with Enrico Delle Sedie, Paris, 1897-1898. Doctor of Music, Knox College, 1909.

Career

1 daughter, Florence May. Began as teacher of music at New Lyme Institute, Ohio, 1883. In charge of music, Knox College, 1885, and since head Knox Conservatory of Music, which he has developed from its inception.

Chorister Central Congressional Church, Galesburg, since 1886. Conductor choral concerts and musical festivals.
