William Hall Sherwood, American composer, pianist.
Sherwood, William Hall was born on January 31, 1854 in Lyons, New York, United States. Son of Review Lyman H. and Mary (Balis) Sherwood.
Graduate Lyons Musical Academy, of which his father was founder and principal. Studied in the United States under Edward Heimburger, Pychowski, William Mason. In Europe with Kullak, and Deppe, Berlin, and finally with Liszt, at Weimar.
Also studied organ; was organist English Church, Stuttgart, and English Chapel, Berlin.
Has played in principal cities of Europe and Canada, and all parts of the United States. Director Sherwood Music School Composer of some high grade music for piano. Author: University Extension Course of Music Study and Piano Playing (a new departure in fundamental respects for the best modern principles of interpretation, technic and touch).
