VENABLES-VERNON, William Henry was born on January 1, 1852. Only child of late Edward Henry Vernon, Lieutenant Royal Navy, son of late Lieutenant-Colonel Honourable Henry Vernon, Grenadier Guards, 2nd son of Henry Lord Vernon (3rd Baron) and Eliza Grace, daughter of Edward Coke, Longford Court, Derby, and niece of 1st Earl of Leicester.
Education
Studied at London and France, and with private tutors in England and abroad. Bachelor of Arts University of France, 1868. Licentiate of Laws, 1871.

Prizeman in Judicial Composition and in Roman Law, 1869-1870-1871. Medallist, Literary Composition, 1871.

Admitted to Jersey Bar, 1873. Member of States of Jersey, 1875. Gretfier of Royal Court and States, 1876.

Attorney-General, 1884. Received the thanks of Lord Salisbury’s Government, 24 October 1887, and of Secretary of State for Home Affairs, 26 July 1890, for official services.
Has appeared for Crown in various cases before Political Committee of Council for the Affairs of Jersey and Guernsey, and also before the Judicial Committee of Il.M.’s Privy Council. President of the Royal Court and of the States of the Island of Jersey.
