( The framework of this new look at college and universit...)
The framework of this new look at college and university education in this country today divides the learning experience into seven sections or groups, the stable patterns of which constitute the parameters or constants: people, space, instructional method, time, materials, student interaction, and gain in knowledge. In actual practice, Mr. McKeefery shows, there has not been much real change in educational practice over the yearsfor example, twenty people in a classroom represent the parameter, or constant, of group learning. And change was not really possible, he points out, until technology provided means to amplify voices, simulate images, and store data for easy retrieval. While this work is concerned primarily with surveying the present state of the educational processa bibliography of over five hundred titles divided into fifteen categories provides aid to the reader who wishes to pursue his studyMr. McKeefery’s conjectures about the future should prove both stimulating and challenging.
