Admitted to bar, 1876. Member Kentucky House of Representatives, 1881-1882. Presidential elector, 1884, 1888.
Member Kentucky Constitutional Convention, 1890.
Attorney-general of Kentucky, 1891-1896. Employed as counsel for Kentucky in Franchise Tax Cases in Supreme Court of the United States, winning them.
The principle established in these cases added a million dollars of new revenue annually to Kentucky treasury. In practice at New York since 1899.
