Born in Butte, Montana, Jameson received an Bachelor of Arts from the University of Montana in 1919 and an Bachelor of Laws from the University of Montana School of Law in 1922. He was in private practice in Billings, Montana from 1922 to 1957. Jameson was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of Montana.
He was confirmed by the United States Senate on March 26, 1957, and received his commission on March 28, 1957.
He served as chief judge from 1965-1968. He assumed senior status on February 27, 1969.
Jameson served in that capacity until his death.
