Elected to Legisla tive Assembly of Vancouver Island, 1859. Called to Legislative Council of British Columbia, 1866. Mayor of Victoria on two occasions.
Called to Senate of Canada, 1871.
Captain of Militia in the early days of the Colony of Vancouver Island, 1851-1858. Acted as Gold Commissioner, Collector of Customs, and Postmaster.
Has been in public life forty-eight years. Served the Honourable Hudson’s Bay Company for eight years.
Senator for British Columbia.
