Engaged in sale of motion picture machines, accessories and theater supplies, 1912-1916. Elected member Republican City Central Committee, 1912-1915. Elected Member Board of Aldermen, representing Sixth Ward, 1915, re-elected 1919.
Chairman Streets, Sewers and Wharves Committee, also Vice-President., Acting President, and Acting Mayor. All important bills for widening streets, and other constructive and industrial development legislations were passed and approved. Elected Recorder of Deeds.
1922, term beginning 1923, re-elected. First and only Recorder of Deeds to issue a public detailed and comparative report of operations, receipts and expenditures of Recorder’s office. One notable improvement made by him was installation in 1928, of photographing equipment which produces photographic facsimile copies of recorded documents, which are retained as permanent records.
This system is being applied to Public Offices and during 2 years of its operation, $44,000 was saved.
