Began as assistant naval constructor United States Navy, 1896, advanced through ranks to rear admiral Construction Corps, July 1, 1936. Served in Spanish-American War and Philippine campaign as assistant naval constructor. In World War as captain Construction Corps.

Decorated for service all 3 wars.

Placed on retired list August, 1937. Technical assistant to president Bath (Maine) Iron Works Corporation since August, 1937.
