The 57 radio commentaries printed here were broadcast, on behalf of the International Institute for Economic Research, during the six-month period, January through June 1984. These remarks are brief: each commentary was delivered in less than three minutes. The intent has been to provide to a lay audience capsules of reputable economics, useful applications of well established, elemental analytics. The analysis itself, the substantive content, was to be dispassionate utilization of those fundamental concepts and techniques which economists have laboriously developed and quite generally adopted. The exposition, however, designed to catch the ear, may at times be rather more vigorous and colloquial than usually provided by an academic.
