Became representative of the family of Childe (of Kinlet) on the death of his elder brother, Major Childe, killed in the action of Bastion Hill, Natal, January 1900. Is hereditary governor of Childe’s College Cleobury Mortimer (founded by Sir Lacon Childe). Company-heir to several baronies deiived from Plantagenets.
