Began as clerk 3d National Bank, Sandusky, 1882. Entered railway service as clerk to general storekeeper Indiana, Bloomington & Western, Railway, 1886. With C., S. & C. R. R. Company, 1888-1889, Indianapolis, Decatur & Western Railway Company, 1889-1890.
With Chesapeake & Ohio Railway Company, 1890, successively at Cincinnati, Washington, District of Columbia, and Richmond, Virginia. Commerce counsel, 1911, assistant general solicitor, 1917, assistant general counsel, 1918, became general attorney 1920. Now general attorney Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railway General claims attorney United States R.R. Administration, January 1, 1919-February 29, 1920.
Licensed as attorney by Supreme Court of Virginia, 1909.
