Woods, William Stone was born on November 1, 1840 in Columbia, Missouri, United States. Son of James and Martha Woods.

Education

Bachelor of Arts, University of Missouri, 1861, A.M., 1864. Doctor of Medicine Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, 1864.

Career

Practiced medicine, Middle Grove, Missouri, 1863-1867. Sold goods in Paris, Missouri, 1867. In 1868, with brother, established as wholesale grocer, pending construction Union Pacific road.

In 1869 established savings bank, Rocheport, Missouri, becoming its cashier. Member Grimes, Woods, La Force & Company, wholesale dry goods, Kansas City, Missoury, 1881. Also president Kansas City Savings Association, which in 1882 was merged into the Bank of Commerce, later National Bank of Commerce, of which became president Home: Excelsior Springs, Mo.
