Career

Assistant in chemistry, Harvard, 1878-1880. Assistant professor of chemistry, 1880-1883, Kauke professor, natural sciences, 1883-1886, Brown professor of chemistry and physics, 1886-1902, Brown professor of chemistry and director chemical laboratory, University of Wooster, 1902-1924. Retired Presbyterian Has done important research work in organic and physical chemistry and water analysis.
