Willy Frank

Background

Willy Frank was born on May 30, 1949, in Püchersreuth, Bavaria, Germany. He is the son of Johann Frank and Frieda (Meierhöfer) Frank.

Education

After completing his Abitur (high school diploma) in 1978 from College Rüsselsheim, Frank attended the University of Mainz, where he studied Economics (Volkswirtschaftslehre) and Statistics. He graduated in 1985 with a Diplom-Volkswirt (a graduate degree in economics). Immediately following his graduation, he continued at the university as a research associate (wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter), earning his doctorate, Dr. rer. pol., in 1987.

Career

Frank's career began with a teaching position at various technical schools in Germany (1968–1976). After earning his doctorate, he joined the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in Regensburg, where he worked from 1987 to 1993, first as a consultant (Referent) (1987–1989) and later as Managing Director (Geschäftsführer) (1989–1993).

In 1993, he was appointed Professor of Economics at the Coburg University of Applied Sciences. He held this professorship until his retirement (pensioniert) in 2012. Concurrently, since 1994, Frank has also served as a part-time lecturer at the VWA Nuremberg. He has also been active as a researcher consultant in Germany and Japan since 1993.
