Smith, Wilson George was born on August 19, 1855 in Elyria, Ohio, United States. Son of George Troupe and Calista M. Smith.

Education

Graduate Cleveland public schools. Began mus. education in Cincinnati, 1875, under Otto Singer. Studied in Berlin, 1880-1882, under Kullak, Kiel, Scharwenka, Moszkowski and Oscar Raif.

Career

Engaged as teacher of piano, voice and composition, since 1882. Also mus. litterateur, editor and critic. Music critic, Cleveland Press, since 1902.

Piano compositions (several hundred) include books of piano studies, transcriptions and editorial revision of classic and modern works. Composer many popular songs. Home: Lakewood, O.
