As of April 2007, his Elo rating was 2597, making him the # 7 player in Israel and the 152nd-highest rated player in the world. lieutenant is his peak rating so far. In 1988, he tied for 13-14th in Kharkov (UKR-ch).
He then moved to Israel.
In 2004, he tied for 1st-2nd with Sergei Erenburg in Ramat Aviv (ISR-ch). In 2007, he tied for 1st-6th with Mateusz Bartel, Zahar Efimenko, Yuri Yakovich, Michael Roiz and Mikhail Kobalia in the 16th Monarch Assurance Isle of Manitoba International tournament.
In 2010, he tied for 1st-4th with grandmasters Maxim Turov, Sergei Zhigalko and Rinat Jumabayev in the IV International Georgy Agzamov Memorial. In 2010, he tied for 1st-7th with grandmasters Alexander Riazantsev, Nadezhda Kosintseva, Leonid Kritz, Sébastien Feller, Christian Bauer, Sébastien Mazé in the 43rd Biel Mediterranean Theatre of Operations.
