Career
Xavier Castro earned his degree in Law from the Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil in 1990, followed by a master"s degree in Law from Cambridge University (Peterhouse College) in 1997. He was an Ecuadorian Supreme Court of Justice councillor until 1999 and Vice-President of the Guayaquil Chamber of Commerce over two different periods.

Membership
He is also a member of Una Nueva Opción (United Nations Organization), a private non-profit organization, which trains future political leaders in Ecuador.
