In 1987 Xavier studied at Ecole Centrale de Marseille in Marseilles, France. Inj this year he became a student of the Aix-Marseille University in Marseilles, France. he became a Master of Science in the area of plasmas and physics. In three years Xavier received a degree of the Doctor of Philosophy on physics. In 2008 he studied at Aix-Marseille University in Marseilles, France at the faculty of physics.
Xavier was a task force leader of EFDA-Joint European Torus Culham Science Center in the United Kingdom from 2002 to 2007. Since 2007 he was a member of the International Tokamak Physics Activity. He held this position until 2007. In 2004 he worked as a coordinator of EFDA-Joint European Torus activity at the Institute for Magnetic Fusion Research in St. Paul Lez Durance, France.
In 2007 he was the head of plasma heating and confinement department at the Institute for Magnetic Fusion Research. He worked there for eleven years. Since 2014 he worked as the head of ITER Physics Department of the EUROfusion Programme Management in the United Kingdom.
Xavier has three children: Matthieu, Virginie, Claire.
