Background
Y oritsune Fujiwara was born in 1213. He was the son of Michiie. Because his mother was a remote relative of Shogun Yori- tomo Minamoto, he was received by the Kamakura Shogunate as heir after the assassination of Shogun Sanetomo Minamoto in 1219.
