Yahya Bakhtiar studied at schools in Quetta and Lahore. He studied Law in London and was called to the Bar in United Kingdom. Yahya Bakhtiar became a member of the All-India Muslim League in 1941.
Yahya Bakhtiar died on June 27th, 2003 in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Yahya was also appointed to the Senate of Pakistan. He was appointed Attorney General of Pakistan again when Benazir Bhutto became Prime Minister in 1988.
He also represented Nawaz Sharif in the Supreme Court of Pakistan when then President Ghulam Ishaq Khan dissolved the National Assembly by using his powers under Article 58(2)(B).
Yahya"s daughter Zeba Bakhtiar is an actress.
Bakhtiar was elected as a member of National Assembly of Pakistan from the Quetta-Pishin constituency in 1977.
