Yajnavalkya Bharadwaja

Background

Yajnavalkya Bharadwaja was born on August 13, 1895 in Jalalpur Jattan, Pakistan. He was the son of Pandit Lachhman Das and Dhan Devi.

Education

Yajnavalkya Bharadwaja graduated from Punjab University in 1912 and London University in 1933.

Career

From 1918 till 1919 Yajnavalkya Bharadwaja was a Part Time Demostrator in Botany at Government College in Lahore. He also worked as a Professor of Botany at St. John's College in Agra in 1919-1922. Yajnavalkya Bharadwaja was an Assistant Professor of Botany at Banaras Hindu University in 1922-1933. During 1933 till 1955 he worked as a Professor and a Head of Botany Department. He appointed a Principal and a Professor of Botany at Jaswant College in Jodhpur in 1948-1950. Since 1950 Yajnavalkya Bharadwaja was working under Research Scheme of Retired Scientists.

Achievements

• Yajnavalkya Bharadwaja was a great botanist who wrote a lot of articles and research papers on different botanical themes which are still useful to society.
