1895 graduate Medical Faculty, Kiev University.
From 1919 assistant professor, then associate professor, 2nd Moscow State University. From 1934 head Chair of Roentgenology affiliated to the Moscow Oblast Clinical Research Institute, where he organized a major center of the Moscow Oblast X-ray service. Founded clinic for treatment of patients suffering from intrathoracic tumors.
1915-1919 proved, contrary to established opinion, that it is necessary to flush the esophagus and stomach when the former has been damaged by caustic substances. Atributed gastric ulcers to malfunctions of the central nervous system and hyperfunction of certain parts of the stomach’s muscular envelope. 1928 on the basis of research into the pathology and physiology of the diaphragm confirmed the theory that idiopathic dilation of the esophagus is caused by phrenospasm.
Devised theory of gastric respiration and test for viviparturition for use in forensic medical. Did major research on the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. Used method of weak multipolar irradiation permitting the exposure of tumors to larger X-ray doses.
Honorary member, Moscow Social of Roentgenologists and Radiologists. 1942-1943 founder-chairman, Fergana Sciences Social. Wrote over 80 works.
