1892-1894 studied at Stroganov Art College, Moscow. 1894-1896 and 1898-1899 at Odessa Art College. 1899 — 1901 studied in Paris.
Professor and head, Chair of Sculpture and co-founder, Tbilisi Academy of Arts. 1904-1910 worked at Rodin’s studio in Paris, where he was exposed to impressionist influences, trained numerous sculptors, including "South-Ya. Kakabadze and K.M. Merabishvili.
Specialized in realistic busts of Geo writers and artists.
Member, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Arts from 1947.
