Yamanbe Takeo was born on 1851 in Tsuwano, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan.
Yamanbe Takeo studied English at Tokyo under Keiu Nakamura and Yukichi Fukuzawa (1870) and later accompanied Koreaki Kamei, former lord of the Tsuwano Clan, to England (1877) and studied economics and mechanics at London University.
Returning home was appointed manager of Osaka Spinning Mill (1880) and eventually became its director (1898). When his company and Mie Spinning Company were merged to form Toyo Spinning Company he assumed the presidency of the new company (1914). Resigned (1916). Contributed greatly to the Japanese spinning industry when it was still in its embryonic stage.
