Yamashiro-no-Shojo Toyotake studied Gidayu from Takemoto-Tsudayil (3rd generation) at Osaka (1889) and succeeded to the title of Toyotake-Kotsubodayii II (1909).
Rising still higher in the profession Yamashiro-no-Shojo Toyotake was conferred the name for which he is known today by Prince Chichibu (1947). He was a director of the Puppet Joruri Association, a member of the Art Academy and a prominent figure of Bunrakuza Theater (puppet show theater). Among his successful programs are Domyoji, Hori-ltawa and Sendaihagi.
