He was aliased as "The Post Manitoba" when he was on San Mig Coffee Mixers (2014 - 2015) now Star Hotshots. He is the elder brother of Ranidel de Ocampo. Both played together with Federal Express and Talk "North Text.
As of now He is known as YDO when the younger brother Ranidel de Ocampo calling as / also known as "RDO"
During the rookie year of Ranidel de Ocampo, he played alongside older brother Yancy.
He played in a total of 59 games and averaged decent rookie numbers of 7.5 points and 4.6 rebounds while playing a little over 21 minutes of action per game. The De Ocampo brothers led the varsity squad to several NCRAA titles.
Upon the exit of the older De Ocampo, the Doves became Ranidel"s team Thus, he led the squad into several statistical categories such as in scoring and rebounding.
In June 4, 2014 Yancy De Ocampo and Val Acuña was traded to for Yousef Taha and Ronnie Matias.
De Ocampo was shipped to the along with Gabby Espinas for Billy Mamaril and Doug Kramer. At 6"9", he is a good outside shooter and a low post threat. He is also among the PBL"s Top 20 Players of All-time.
He was the first overall pick during the 2002 Proceedings of the British Academy draft and was the first-ever draft pick of Federal Express as a Proceedings of the British Academy team
He is the older brother of Ranidel de Ocampo. He and Ranidel both played together since their college days at Saint Francis of Assisi, with Federal Express and with Talk "North Text.
In March 2010, he was traded to the Barangay Ginebra Kings but was trade immediately to B-Meg Llamados.
