Almagor received a Doctor of Medicine degree from Milan University School of Medicine in 1981.
Almagor has been a director of Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Cardiology Laboratories at Shaare Zedek Medical Center since 1993. He also serves as an associate and co-director of the Columbus Heart Center in Milan. In addition, Yaron holds a clinical fellowship in interventional cardiology at Ichilov Hospital in Israel and at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda.

On September 10, 1974 Yaron Almagor married Rivka Zimmerman, with whom he divorced in 1995. On May 25, 1997 he married Marzia Bernati. They have three children.
