Yasuji was born on March 26, 1952 in Koma, Nara, Japan. Son of Yoshihara and Aiko Ishikura.
Yasuji studied at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan. In 1978 he became a Master in the area of sociology. In three years he received a degree of the Doctor of sociology.
In 1982 Yasuji worked as a Vice-head of the Kansai Planning Art Institute in Osaka, Japan. He worked there for six years. In 1988 he was a head researcher at the Research Institute of Integrated Social Welfare in Japan. He worked there until 1993. From 1993 to 2005 he was an associate professor at Hiroshima University in Hiroshima, Japan.
Since 2001 he worked as a guest researcher at the Stockholm Gerontology Research Center in Stockholm, Sweden. He worked there for a year. Since 2005 he works as a professor at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan. Also, since 2007 he works as a chairman of the Research Institute of Integrated Social Welfare in Osaka, Japan.
Yasuji married to Akiko Ishikura on July 23, 1984. They have a child: Youko.
