Yasumaro Shimojo was born in Nagano Prefecture in 1885.
He graduated from Political Science Department of Tokyo University in 1909.
He served as part-time employee of Home Ministry and probational employee of Tokyo Municipal Government and thereafter became president of Shokunkyoku (Bureau of Decorations) (1929). He retired from the government service and nominated member of House of Peers (1940).
He became professor of Law & Literature Department of Nihon University (1944).
He was elected to House of Councilors (1947). Served as Education Minister in the 2nd Yoshida Cabinet (1948-49). He was appointed president of Koriyama Women's Junior College (1950).
He held additional posts at Jinkogakukai (Demography Society) and is a regular member of International Statistics Association. Books include Shakai Seisaku-no Riron-to Shisetsu (Theory and Facilities of Social Poli-cy ) and Nihon Shakai Seisaku-shiteki Shisetsu-shi (History of Facilities from the Viewpoint of Social Policy in Japan).
