Yataro Itami was born on January, 17 in 1866 in Saga Prefecture, Japan.
Yataro Itami entered the business world at an early age and became influential in local industrial circles. With the founding of the Kyushu Electric Company he became its director in 1922 and continued in this position when the company merged with Kansai Electric Company to become Toho Electric Co. Yataro Itami was instrumental in bringing this company to its present top position in the country and also he was director of several other concerns, including Saga Cement Company and Saga Agricultural Bank.
