Carried on an extensive trade with foreign countries since 1606, in the course of which Yazaemon Kiya made several voyages to Siam, Luzon and Cambodia with the consent of the Shogun. It is said that when a Siamese emissary came to present his credentials to Ieyasu Tokugawa at Nijo Castle, Kyoto, he acted as interpreter (1623). After this date history has no further record of him.
