When he was a teenager Karalkevitch found out all his passion for knowledge. His father, having gathered all money, decided to give education to his son. Karalkevitch graduated from a gymnasium in Minsk with excellent.
He entered medicine faculty in the University in Harkov.There he finishwed scientific courses under control of such professors as Mitskevich, (A. Mitskevich's brother), Valitskiy and others.
In 1857-62 he worked as a teacher in Molodechno. He was suspected of revolt. He was imprisoned by the police and sent to Vileyka, where he was under examination for a long period of time. When he was set free because of witness lacking, Raralkevitch came back to Harkov, where for some time he worked in surgical hospital. For about 30 years he lived and worked at medical establishments in novocharsk. He made a shelter out of his home for everybody who arrived to Belarus. He payed for education of nearly 20 capable young people. Among his pupils there were University professors, doctors, lawyers and others.To the end of his life he got a large strip of land near Vorsaw, worked there, treated ordinary people free of charge.He cared for theie literacy, hygiene and ethics.
