Studiet at Zurich and Petrograd University. 1919 graduate Medical Faculty, Saratov University.
While still a student worked in South. I. Spasokukotskiy’s Surgical Clinic, where he did his first research on hematological lesions before and after splenectomy. After graduation worked for a short time as a surgeon at Vinnitsa former local government authority Hospital under Malinovskiy. 1919-1921 served in Red Army as head of evacuation stations on various fronts during Civil War.
1921-1924 intern, Professor P. A. Gertsen’s Surgical Clinic, 1st Moscow State University. 1924-1926 assistant professor, 1927-1930 associate professor, Spasokukotskiy Surgical Clinic, Saratov Medical Institute. 1927 studied gastric surgery at Austrian and Czechoslovak hospitals.
From 1930 professor, Chair of Surgery, Astrakhan' Medical Institute, where he established a large experimental laboratory and a branch of the Centr Blood Transfusion Institute. From 1930 spent summers in Zheleznovodsk and Yessentuki, establishing a surgical department in the former health resort. From 1937 until death head, Chair of Faculty Surgery, Gorky Medical Institute, which he turned into one of leading Soviet surgical centers and where he established an experimental and biochemical laboratory and a branch of Centr Blood Transfusion Institute.
During World War 2, also worked as consultant to various hospitals and was chief surgeon, Gorky Evacuation Station. After World War 2 chief surgeon of Gorky. Established municipal oncological dispensary which became an extension of Faculty Clinic.
Apart from clinical, research and teaching duties also worked for several medical organisation. Board member, All-Union Social of Surgeons and deputy chairman, All-Russian Social of Surgons. 1930-1937 chairman, Astrakhan’ Sciences Surgical Social.
1937-1958 chairman, Gorky Sciences Surgical Social. Trained many surgeons, twelve of whom hold chairs at various medical institute Supervised compilation and defense of over 60 doctor’s theses.
Made major contribution to development of Soviet oncology and helped to organize cancer diagnostic service in Gorky Oblast. Wrote over 140 works on thoracic surgery, oncology, wound surgery, pathophysiology and surgery, metabolism blood transfusion, et cetera
