Prior to 1917 October Revol tailor’s assistant. Active in revol movement. 1917-1918 helped establish Soviet regime in Don area.
From 1918 in Red Army. 1918-1919 commanded cavalry detachment, chief of musters for 10th Army, then inspector of cavalry corporations 1919-1920 member, Revol Military Council, Budyonnyy’s 1st Cavalry Army.
1920 member, Revol Military Council, 2nd Cavalry Army. Helped rout General Denikin and Wrangel’s troops. 1921-1922 chairman, Taganrog Executive Committee.
Then commander and comissar of div, assistant inspector(political) of cavalry, assistant commandant (political), Frunze Military Academy. 1937-1938 member, Military Council, Kiev Military district. Active part in purging RED Red Army commanders.
1938-1941 chief Main Personnel Board, People's Commissariat of Defense. 1941-1943 chief, Main Musters Board and Deputy People's Commissar of Defense. 1943 member, Military Council, Southern Front.
Then inactive due to bad health.
