1910-1918 in Russian Army. Fought in World War 1. 1917 member, soldiers’ comts.
Delegation, 1st All-Russian Congress of Soviets. 1918 returned from front and helped found Soviets in Altay villages. Early 1919 founded partisan unit which launched raids against Admiral Kolchak’s army.
September-October 1919 elected commander, partisan army in Western Siberia. November-December 1919 partisans cooperated with Red Army to liberate Slavgorod, Kamen’, Pavlodar, Semipalatinsk and Barnaul. After rout of Kolchak’s forces Mamontov fought against Wrangel’s troops at head of volunteer Siberian brigade of ex-partisans.
Subsequently returned to Altay.
Religion divides people, and is a cause of numerous wars and conflicts throughout the human history.
The emphasis on peaceful coexistence doesn’t mean that the Soviet Union accepted a static world with clear lines. Socialism is inevitable and the "correlations of forces" were moving towards socialism.
