Education
1895 graduate Medical Faculty, Moscow University. From 1895 specialized at Professor Artificial Intelligence Pospelov’s Clinic of Skin and Venereal Diseases, Moscow University. 1897-1900 intern at this clinic.
Career
Fall 1900-1902 outpatients physician, 1902-1917 intern and head, Male Outpatients Department, Odessa City Hospital. Also conducted extensive private practice and worked on microbiology and serology at North.F. Gamalcya’s laboratory. 1902 passed initial doctorate examinations in Moscow.
Completed first part of thesis Limfaticlieskiye zhelezy i sifilis (The Lymph Glands and Syphilis). 1903 further medical studies at Professor Jadasson’s clinic in Berne. From 1911 gave public lectures on venereal diseases and prostitution, recruiting other physicians for this work.
Arranged printing of thesis lectures for public distribution. 1912 popularized prophylactic method of treating persons who had had sexual or non-sexual contact with syphilis sufferers. 18 June 1917 opened Russia’s first polyclinic of skin, venereal and urogenital diseases which accepted patients on Sundays in order to afford treatment to workers and other persons bound by their jobs.
Recruited external students of staff and arranged short sources to train civilian and military physicians in dcrmatovenerology. Established serological and pathoanatomical laboratories at the polyclinic at his own expense. 1922 polyclinic reorganized into DermaloVenerologicaJ Institute and named after him.
Reported and lectured to Moscow Vencrological and Dermatological Social. Member and for many years secretary, Odessa Dermatological Social. Presented papers at conferences of dermatologists and vencrologists.
1902 read paper at 3rd All-Russian Congress of Odonlologists. Foreign many years lectured on syphidology at Odessa Dental School. Wrote several dozen works on eczema, new anti-syphilis drugs, scrodiagnosis of syphilis, effects of war on development of prostitution and spread of venereal diseases, prophylaxis of venereal disease, et cetera
