1894—1911 teacher, Kostroma College of Chemical Technology 1902 provided plans for construction of first formalin plant in Russia. 1908 proved the possibility of obtaining higher hydrocarbons from a mixture of carbon monoxide and hydrogen, with which he synthesized etylcne.
1911-1931 professor, Khar’kov Technol Institute. From 1927 also director, Kharkov Research Institute of Refractory Materials. From 1931 professor, various higher educational establishments in Moscow.
