In 1870’s revol work in Khar’kov and Saint St. Petersburg. Closely associated with “Land and Freedom" (Zemlya i Volya) movement. 1879, after its schism, joined "Black Rcallotment” (Chyornyy Peredel) faction.
1880, together with North. P. Shchedrin, founded the “Southern Russian Workers' League” in Kiev, for which she was sentenced ( 1881 ) to an indefinite term at hard labor. 1882 sent to Kara; 1903-1917 in emigration, where she joined the Socialist-Revol Party (Maximalists). Late 1917 returned to Russia.
From 1918 worked for Petrograd Archives of Revol History. From 1923 member, editorial board, journal Katorga i ssylka. Member, Social of Polit Convicts.
